Easter Gardening

The Roses are full on blooming! Some really cool looking ones. I need to map to keep track!

Here's our Princess Diana in the front:

I planted some annuals to spruce up the place. Cosmos (assorted colors), Snapdragons (Antirrhinum), Petunias, Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima), Phlox Mix, Lobelia (Laguna Sky Blue, Proven Winners), Columbine Aguilena (Vigaro Perennial), Delphinium Guardian, Osteospermum, Dahlia (double flowered, dwarf)

Fertilizer

Applied 21-0-0 to all roses and fruit trees today. Threw out granular.

Also applied Miracle Grow liquid to herbs, Strawberries, Begonia, and Palms in pots out front.

Herb Update

Here's our little herb garden (compare to picts from March 15th).

Basil, Cilantro, Rosemary, Dill, Thai Basil, Chives and Chamomile in the long pot. Peppermint in the round pot by itself. The 2 small pots in front haven't been potted yet: Lemon Balm and Catnip. It's like X for the cats.

Strawberry plants: Not the sweetest, but they keep coming!

Front view of the Strawberries. On the left is the Catmint I pulled out from under some roses and stuck in a pot. Hoping it will flower. Doesn't have the same effect on the cats as the nip.

Vegetable Garden Started!

Here is Day 1 of South Hayworth Gardens Vegetable wing. We're starting with vegetables in oak wine barrels. Bottom filled with alfalfa from the equestrian center (yes I still have about 4/5 of a bale of alfalfa in my backyard.....), layer of Steer Manure, more alfalfa, and about a foot of potting soil. Some nitrogen rich fertilizer mixed in. We'll see how we do.

I've started with 2 barrels. Prepped them last weekend. Been watering and adding potting soil to keep full. Going to prep a third barrel tomorrow.....trying to stagger the veggies a bit.
